Two Women Injured and Two Dogs Killed in Bethesda Dog Attack
BETHESDA, Md. — A dog attack in Montgomery County on Wednesday morning left two women injured and two dogs dead, according to police.
The incident occurred in the 7000 block of Heather Hill Road when a woman walking her dog was confronted by two dogs, one of which attacked her pet.
As the attack unfolded, the dog’s owner and another woman who tried to intervene were injured while attempting to stop it. One of the attacking dogs fled, while the other continued to maul the woman’s dog, resulting in its death, Montgomery County police reported.
Officers responded to the scene at 10:35 a.m. and fatally shot the attacking dog when it approached them. The two injured women were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police confirmed the attacking dogs were from the neighborhood but did not disclose their breed or whether their owner was present during the incident.
