PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — More than a month after Karen Dunlap’s death, her family is still searching for answers about how she ended up in Cleveland and what led to her tragic passing.
Dunlap, a well-known social media influencer from Prince George’s County, was last seen in the fall of 2024 before leaving for a trip to Ohio. However, she never returned home. The 30-year-old, also known online as Reyna, was found deceased in an abandoned building in Cleveland on Jan. 18. Authorities have yet to determine her cause of death, and there are no clear leads in the investigation.
Speaking to WUSA9, Dunlap’s mother, Karen Jones, and her sister, Kira Dunlap, expressed their grief and frustration over the lack of information.
“I feel like somebody kicked a hole through my soul, and the biggest part of my heart is gone,” Jones said through tears. “The worst is just not knowing.”
Dunlap, who lived in College Park, Maryland, had remained in close contact with her family until November 2024 and continued posting on social media until Jan. 1 before going silent.
Her family believes she may have traveled to Cleveland for an audition for the reality show Baddies Midwest, but this remains unconfirmed. They are now awaiting toxicology results for more insight into her death.
After her body was discovered, her family traveled to Cleveland to distribute flyers and speak with locals. Some people recognized her and reported that she appeared to be in good health, but no one could explain why she was in the area or who she was with.
“We know she was shopping there. We visited some of the places she had been, put up flyers, and talked to people who said they’d seen her,” Jones said. “But we still don’t have any answers.”
The family is urging anyone who may have seen or spoken to Dunlap in Cleveland or College Park between late October and early November to come forward.
“If anyone has any information, no matter how small, please reach out,” Jones pleaded.
To help with funeral expenses and hire a private investigator, the family has launched a GoFundMe campaign. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the tip line at 216-252-7463.
