For the silhouette of the EXPLR 02, Matthew Blunt combined the aesthetic of organic shapes with the uniform appeal of a geometric grid. This resulted in something quite unique and aesthetically pleasing. The 3D-printed runners also have some degree of performance-driven design to them, as well, with the grid shaping the outer body providing breathability and flexibility while the lower half of the show boasts a “pillow-like air gap between the outsole and the inner sole.”
While the 3D-runners are not for sale on the market, Matthew Blunt used the EXPLR 02 as an exploration of contemporary technology.
