FREDERICK, Md. — A longtime primary care physician in Frederick has been indicted on rape and assault charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a patient during two separate medical visits.
Dr. Syed Haque, 64, was arrested after a Frederick County grand jury charged him with multiple offenses, including two counts of second-degree rape.
Authorities say the incidents occurred in October 2024 and January 2025 during medical appointments with the same patient. The victim initially hesitated to report the first assault but came forward after the second, notifying office staff and police.
Investigators allege that Dr. Haque assaulted the patient under the guise of performing pelvic and breast exams unrelated to her medical concerns. After a thorough investigation, detectives presented their findings to prosecutors, resulting in the indictment on January 31.
Dr. Haque was taken into custody at his home on February 4 without incident. The case remains open as authorities investigate the possibility of additional victims.
