Frederick, Md. (KM) — A man has been arrested in connection with an abduction that took place earlier this week in Frederick County. Devon Marshall Fyke, 32, of Charles Town, West Virginia, faces charges of second-degree assault, false imprisonment, theft of property valued between $100 and $1,500, and malicious destruction of property under $1,000.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, June 16. Deputies received a report of a woman being abducted by her boyfriend along New Design Road. The victim’s sister told authorities she was trying to follow the vehicle.
According to investigators, Fyke drove erratically in an attempt to frighten the victim. When she tried to exit the vehicle, he restrained her and threw her phone out the window.
He eventually let her out near Buckeystown Pike and English Muffin Way. The woman borrowed a phone from a bystander and contacted authorities. Deputies found her and transported her to the hospital.
Fyke was later located at a Sheetz gas station in Brunswick and taken into custody. Authorities noted he also had an outstanding warrant in an unrelated case.
He has since been released on personal recognizance.
