A Maryland State Police trooper was struck early Saturday morning while investigating a collision on the Capital Beltway in Prince George’s County.
The incident occurred just before 2:45 a.m. on the inner loop of I-495 near Greenbelt Road. According to the preliminary investigation, the trooper was inside a marked patrol car with its emergency lights activated when a gray Tesla, driven by 34-year-old Teo Kim of Hanover, crashed into the back of the vehicle.
The trooper was transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment and has since been released.
Police suspect that impairment may have played a role in the crash and said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
