Walkersville, Md. — A Walkersville man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, second-degree assault, and false imprisonment. Authorities say 35-year-old Pavel Obambe was taken into custody on Tuesday.
According to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home in the 8400 block of Foresight Lane on Sunday at around 10:05 a.m. for a report of an unresponsive person. Christine Liboula, 68, was found dead at the scene. An autopsy conducted by the State Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide, citing strangulation and blunt force trauma as the cause.
Investigators report that the previous night, June 21, Obambe assaulted another woman in the home they all shared. Liboula tried to intervene, and the assaulted woman eventually left the residence. Liboula remained behind and was discovered deceased the following morning by family members.
Obambe, who is Liboula’s son-in-law, has been booked into the Frederick County Adult Detention Center following the formal charges.
Frederick Police and the Child Advocacy Center assisted in the investigation, which remains ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with further information to contact Detective Lawson at 301-600-2817.
